[INTENDED USE]

The Transferrin Rapid Test Cassette is a rapid chromatographic

immunoassay for the qualitative detection of transferrin in human feces to

aid in the diagnosis of gastrointestinal bleeding

 

[SUMMARY]

Colorectal cancer is cancer that occurs in the colon or rectum, and affects

both men and women of all racial and ethnic groups, and is most often found

in people aged 50 years or older. For men, colorectal cancer is the third most

common cancer after prostate and lung cancers. For women, colorectal

cancer is the third most common cancer after breast and lung cancers.

Detection of fecal transferrin, which is more stable in feces than hemoglobin,

provides an alternative way of diagnosing the disease in the upper digestive

tract. The Transferrin Rapid Test Cassette is recommended for use by health

professionals in routine physical examinations and in monitoring for GI

bleeding in patients in hospitals or in physicians' offices. The Transferrin

Rapid Test Cassette is a simple, visual qualitative test that detects

transferrin from blood in fecal. The test is based on immunochromatography

Positive: *Two lines appear. One colored line should be in the control

region (C), and another apparent colored line adjacent should be in the test

region (T).

Negative: One colored line appears in the control region (C). No line

appears in the test region (T).

Invalid: Control line fails to appear. Insufficient specimen volume or

incorrect procedural techniques are the most likely reasons for control line

failure. Review the procedure and repeat the test using a new test cassette.

If the problem persists, discontinue using the lot immediately and contact
