Product Description

Medical Diagnostic Blood Test Cea Test Kits
EVANCARE Diagnostic CEA Rapid Test Kits
For professional and in vitro diagnostic use only.
[INTENDED USE]
The CEA Rapid Test Cassette/Strip is a lateral flow immunoassay for the
qualitative detection of Carcinoembryonic Antigen (CEA) in human whole
blood, serum or plasma. This device is intended as an aid in monitoring
patients for disease progress or response to therapy or for the detection of
recurrent or residual disease.

[SUMMARY]
Carcinoembryonic Antigen (CEA) is a cell surface glycoprotein of
approximately 20,000 molecular weight. CEA is a blood-born protein that
was firstly noted as a specific antigen for adenocarcinoma of the colon.
Further investigations showed that CEA can be present in a variety of
cancers other than colonic, including pancreatic, gastric, lung, and breast
etc. Small amounts have also been demonstrated in secretions from the
colonic mucosa. Additionally, CEA-like substances have been reported in
normal bile from non-icteric patients. The normal CEA concentration in
human blood is <2.5 ng/mL in an adult non-smoker and <5.0 ng/mL in a
smoker. CEA Rapid tests can have significant value in the monitoring of
patients. Progressive elevations of CEA may herald tumor recurrence 3-36
months before clinical evidence of metastases. Persistent elevation in
circulating CEA following treatment is strongly indicative of occult metastatic
and/or residual disease. A persistent rising CEA value may be associated
with progressive malignant disease and poor therapeutic response. A
declining CEA value is generally indicative of a favorable prognosis and
good response to treatment. Measurement of CEA has been shown to be
clinically relevant in the follow-up management of patients with colorectal,
breast, lung, prostatic, pancreatic, ovarian, and other carcinomas. Follow-up
studies of patients with colorectal, breast and lung carcinomas suggest that
the preoperative CEA level has prognostic significance. CEA testing is not
recommended as a screening procedure to detect cancer in the general
population; however, use of the CEA test as an adjunctive test in the
prognosis and management of cancer patients is widely accepted.

Detailed Photos

Positive: *Two lines appear. One colored line should be in the control
region (C), and another apparent colored line adjacent should be in the test
region (T).
Negative: One colored line appears in the control region (C). No line
appears in the test region (T).
Invalid: Control line fails to appear. Insufficient specimen volume or
incorrect procedural techniques are the most likely reasons for control line
failure. Review the procedure and repeat the test using a new test cassette.
If the problem persists, discontinue using the lot immediately and contact
